ARTIST: Jordin Sparks
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: I've always thought that Jordin Sparks has a nice voice. This song is unique in that it's got a lot of interesting sound effects in it as well as some cool chord progressions that really add interest to the melody. Even though this could probably be considered a "radio ready" song, it's not quite as generic as some of her other songs.
I am so sorry for being MIA lately both on here and on Tumblr. I don't have much free time anymore now that I'm working full time, but I will try to be better/more productive!
ARTIST: One EskimO
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: This is a great, chill song. The lead singer has a great voice, and I love the juxtaposition between his voice and the female part in the chorus.
Oh my gosh guys, I have gotten so behind on this. *cries* But I will press on and continue posting when I have the time/motivation to do so!
TITLE: Conspiracy Theory
ARTIST: Nick Jonas and The Administration
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: So it's no secret that I'm not really a fan of The Jonas Brothers, but if you take Nick and put him with some super talented and experienced musicians (i.e. Prince's band The Administration), apparently it becomes something that I can not just tolerate but actually enjoy. This is such an enjoyable song. The guitar line is so fun. The way the song is put together makes it seem both edgy and like a throwback at the same time. And like, Nick Jonas can actually sing, which is not something that I had really noticed before this.
TITLE: All the World
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: This song is just so, so beautiful. I love Fauxliage's music in general, but this song always makes my heart swell with something every time I hear it. The singer's voice is beautiful and heartfelt, and the instrumentation is gorgeous and interesting. And this song was featured on the show "Moonlight", which was an awesome show (back before the popularity of vampires totally exploded everywhere). Makes me wish I still had my Moonlight icon, but I'll use my other icon with Alex O'Loughlin in it to make up for it.
ARTIST: Lady Gaga
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: I will admit that Lady Gaga scares me a bit, but she sure does make some catchy music. I like this song of hers because it's actually kind-of different from most of her other music. It definitely has a Latin flavor to it and uses more actual instruments than most of her other heavily electronic tinged songs.
So got a rather unexpected job offer on Wednesday and went in for training from 8:30-6 today, so I'm kind of exhausted, but whatevs because I finally got a friggin job! \o/
Am hoping I can continue doing 100 things on a semi-regular basis, but time will tell, I suppose.
ARTIST: Charlotte Martin
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: I love the almost tribal feel to this song. It's an interesting contrast to Charlotte's voice. And when the piano comes in it gives the song a really eerie but cool quality. Charlotte Martin is also an amazing lyricist, and this song is no exception.
Back from a fun weekend but quite thoroughly sunburned.
TITLE: As the Rush Comes
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: This is one of my all time favorite dance tracks. I just love the beat and the build. Jes has a really interesting voice, and it's showcased well in this chill track.
Tried to post this yesterday, but LJ was being a butt. So now I'm posting right before I go out of town this weekend and will be stuck without internet access.
TITLE: Show Me Love
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: Ah, another song from my childhood. I like Robyn's voice, and I like that this is a laid back song with a cool vibe. The instrumental track is pretty simple and repetitive, but it manages to work for this track because the vocals change enough to make up for it. In other words, more 90s pop FTW!
Ugh, so tired from dog-sitting two old dogs who aren't house trained very well and sleeping in an unfamiliar bed. But going to Taste of CO today, so that should be fun!
TITLE: Everywhere I Go
WHY I LOVE THIS SONG: This is such a lovely song. It makes me feel both hopeful and sad at the same time. The lyrics present a really powerful message.
